Professional Summary
After graduating from The Ohio State University in 1974, Professor Linda Amspaugh-Corson has taught in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to that, she taught junior high special education, first and third grades, taught as a substitute and did home study teaching. While at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Amspaugh regularly works in elementary schools with preservice and practicing teachers at all levels; she has had key roles in the design, development, and implementation of the redesigned Elementary and Middle School Programs. She also wrote the NCATE Institutional Report for the last on-site visit.
The second edition of her textbook, Children’s Literature: discovery for a Lifetime, co-authored with Barbara Stoodt, has recently been published. Articles relating to teacher education and classroom practices in literacy have been published in Phi Delta Kappa, The Reading Teacher, Principal and Education Horizons. Dr. Amspaugh regularly presents at professional meetings at local, state, regional, and national levels. She also has served on many committees, both as chair and as a member, for these professional organizations as well as for the University. She regularly provides on-going staff development in school districts in Ohio.
