Professional Summary

Biography
Epilepsy is a condition of the central nervous system in which brain activity does not act correctly —bringing seizures and other strange sensations as well as a lack of awareness. I’m most interested in research areas involving epilepsy, functional brain mapping, epilepsy surgery and investigational anti-seizure medication studies. My research involves medical and surgical therapies for children with epilepsy. I have pursued research aimed at electrocortical stimulation for language and motor mapping in children who receive epilepsy surgery. I’ve also explored the utility of SISCOM (Subtraction Ictal SPECT Co-registered to MRI) in evaluating epilepsy surgery planning in children. Furthermore, I have investigated clinical neuropharmacology research in epilepsy.
