Professional Summary
A seasoned trial attorney, Wendy has focused her practice in the areas of criminal law, civil rights, post-conviction petitions and appellate work. She holds a Rule 20 certification which enables her to represent indigent criminal defendants in death penalty trials and appeals. After spending several years with the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office, Wendy opened her own firm and also worked for Sirkin, Kinsley and Nazzarine.
Wendy served as an attorney supervisor in the Public Defender’s Mentor program, providing guidance and instruction to new attorneys. Additionally, she supervised the University of Cincinnati’s Mock Trial team from 2004 – 2006, teaching students evidentiary rules and legal concepts, along with presentation skills. She has extensive experience using paralegals in her legal career.
Wendy has served as lead counsel in over 20 jury trials and 100 bench trials as well as drafted and argued over 50 appeals. Over the years, she has presented on various criminal law topics which has provided a great foundation for her to teach Investigative Techniques and Evidence (PARA 3001) and Legal Research & Writing II (PARA 1012) in the Paralegal Studies program.
