Professional Summary
Joanna T. Campbell is Professor of Management in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati, where she currently serves as Head of the Department of Management. She holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from Texas A&M University. Joanna grew up in Europe and is a dual citizen of Poland and the United States. Her research examines how executives’ backgrounds, characteristics, and experiences shape the organizations they lead, and how configurational theory and methods can be used to address complex questions about organizations and the people within them.
Her work has been published in leading outlets including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal, and Organizational Research Methods. Joanna is an incoming Associate Editor of the Journal of Management and previously served as an Associate Editor of the Academy of Management Review. She has also served on the editorial review boards of Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, and Strategic Management Journal.
Joanna has held multiple leadership roles in the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society, including service on the Executive Committee of the Strategic Management Division of the Academy of Management. She currently serves on the board of directors of the International Corporate Governance Society. Joanna has taught strategy courses in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. She also teaches a graduate course on the implications of AI for organizations and delivers corporate workshops and executive education programs on configurational thinking.
