Professional Summary

Dana Cloud is a critical scholar of communication, culture, and social movements, working from critical Marxist, feminist, and intersectional perspectives. She has published (solo, co-authored, and edited) 7 books along with dozens of articles and book chapters.

Originally from Texas, Cloud received her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and then spent time on the faculties of the University of Texas at Austin and Syracuse University. In both places, she directed the graduate programs.

Cloud has won numerous awards for her teaching, mentorship, research, and leadership including:

A longtime activist, Cloud brings concerns with social justice into all of her treaching, research, and leadership. She is the Director of the University of Cincinnati School of Communication, Media Studies, and Film. Her office is on the fourth floor of Clifton Court Hall.
