Professional Summary

Personal Statement
I originally entered medical school envisioning myself entering a primary care specialty so I could be on the frontlines of addressing health concerns within my community. However, after I learned about role that ophthalmology plays in mitigating public health disparities, my mind began to shift. Over the next two years, I began a research project evaluating access to eye care from safety-net primary care clinics in the Chicagoland area as part of my Global Health Honors curriculum and joining a variety of other ophthalmology research projects. I also attended the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s first and second Global Ophthalmology Summits and began participating regularly in outreach eye screening events. These experiences bolstered my enthusiasm and solidified my commitment to joining the incredible field of ophthalmology.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
Throughout my interview, I was thoroughly impressed by the blend of top-tier clinical and surgical training, a family-friendly city, and, above all, the warm and collegiate culture exuded by everyone I met. I am absolutely thrilled to be able to train at the University of Cincinnati for my ophthalmology residency.
