Professional Summary
Vincent DeGeorge is a professional stage and film director and choreographer and he is proud to have been appointed the Patricia A. Corbett Distinguished Chair of Musical Theatre Fall of 2023. Leading the MT program, of which he is an alumnus, is an honor.
On faculty since 2013, Vincent is a tenured Associate Professor and the Joseph Weinberger Chair of Acting for the Lyric Stage in Musical Theater and Opera, Vincent teaches and directs in both Departments. Vincent spent two summers on faculty with the CCM Summer Opera Studio and has taught as a Visting Professor at the Beijing Dance Academy.
Vincent directed the new work It's Not What It Looks Like by John Collins to win the 2023 Soho Playhouse Lighthouse Series, and will direct the same in Spring 2024.
Vincent has developed, through experiential research, The Theatrical Awareness Practice, which has become the cornerstone of his teaching and directing. It is a somatic and experiential theater technique that trains the actor to live fully in their experiential mind/body. This practice consists of grant supported research adapted into highly structured improvisational explorations that are designed to reacquaint the artist with the infinite intelligence and creative capacity of their own human body experience. Vincent studied the Topf Technique, and Experiential Anatomy with masters, and graduated as an LMT from the Swedish Institute of NY.

Vincent performed across the country and was also company member of the NYC based contemporary dance company dre.dance under Artistic Directors & Choreographers Taye Diggs & Andrew Palermo. In addition to numerous other works, in New York Vincent directed New York City's first fully staged production of The Exonerated to critical acclaim, and co-wrote and directed the award winning musical revue “Nashville” (Nightlife, Bistro and MAC Awards). As a part of the Blacksburg Virginia Summer Arts Festival, Vincent was commissioned to design and build Life In The Trees - an art installation, purposed as both a gallery exhibition and the theatrical setting for two performance pieces, adapted and directed by Vincent. Vincent was a company member of Building Home, which uses theater-making to facilitate and stimulate social justice through public conversation and community engagement.

Vincent is on faculty at the Trentino Music Festival, Musical Theatre Performance Studio in Italy Godspell; Evita; Rent; Into The Woods, at. Auditioning now for the 2024 production of Spring Awakening.
