Professional Summary
Personal Statement
In high school and college, I chose to take American Sign Language (ASL). This unique language taught me that I am undeniably a visual learner and thinker. To me, the language seemed like poetry or music; Instead of individual words with proper conjugation, ASL played a captivating story in front of me. I found the grammar of using facial expression and small changes in eyebrows to be so natural and expressive. My background in disability studies and ASL has given me the skills to communicate with all kinds of patients with personal conflicts related to disabilities, socioeconomic status, cultures, and language barriers. I have a true passion for advocacy, patient education, and complex physiology, which gives me the foundation to become an excellent clinical internist. I would be a good fit for this internal medicine residency program because of my authentic dedication for my patients as a whole person with their unique stories and abilities.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose Cincinnati because of the excellent reputation for teaching and sense of camaraderie between the residents. Dr. Warm conveyed authentic enthusiasm for encouraging and guiding the residents to be great learners, teachers, and clinicians. This program also shares my passion for medical humanities and growth mindset. I like that it can give me the flexibility to follow my own interests both inside and outside of medicine.
