Professional Summary
Personal Statement
The profound sense of human connection with patients I experienced during my internal medicine rotation was unlike anything I experienced before. The opportunity to honestly know those for whom I was a care team member reminded me why I wanted to be a physician. The human experience, which is complex, dynamic, and unique to every individual, became palpable. I grounded my undergraduate studies in religion because I wanted to be better equipped to meet patients where they are and provide myself with the tools to be a more empathetic physician. More importantly, I wanted to explore my unwavering curiosity about the human essence.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
Over the course of the last 6 years I have spent a lot of time in Cincinnati visiting my partner. Through many trips to Skyline, FC Cincinnati games, and dog parks I fell in love with the city and the people. UC’s emphasis on hands-on teaching, and its commitment to nurturing residents' individual pursuit of knowledge, mirrors how I believe medical education can best be optimized. Dr. Warm’s commitment to medical education and curating an open learning environment between residents and faculty at UC was intentional and very special. The culture of the University of Cincinnati exuded warmth, support, and growth. It was important to me to go to a residency program that was focused on injustices within the community it serves. As someone who wants to pursue global health, it was imperative that I found a supportive program that has a focus on both local and global scales to serve all people.
