Professional Summary
Livia Graf is a first-year Ph.D. student in classical philology. She holds a BA in philosophy from Boston University (2018) and two MA degrees from the University of British Columbia, one in philosophy (2021) and one in ancient studies, religions, and ethnicities (2023). Her M.A. thesis, titled “Manipulative supplication: violence and aggression in Aeschylus’ Suppliant Women,” examines behavioral and linguistic expressions of ancient supplication in Greek tragedies.
Her research interests include ancient supplication and changes in the practice over time, metrical analyses of Greek tragedies and Roman comedies, and changes in the Greek language, especially as they are reflected in the Septuagint and later Byzantine writings.
