Larry serves as President of the Goering Center for Family & Private Business, located in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati. A non-profit organization, the Goering Center is a leading educational and informational resource center for family and closely held businesses. In this encore career role, he combines his desire to make a significant community contribution and to be involved with business – in this case supporting hundreds of family businesses and advisors in the Cincinnati region. March, 2008 Larry retired as CEO of Lafayette Life Insurance Company and Chairman of Capital Analysts Incorporated, both members of Western & Southern Financial Group. Larry joined Western & Southern Financial Group as President and CEO of Columbus Life Insurance Company from 1999 to March 2007. Larry held a dual role as President and CEO of both Lafayette Life and Columbus Life from January, 2006 to March, 2007. Larry served for 38 years in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Western & Southern Financial Group, he was President and CEO of Summit Financial Resources, Inc. in Parsippany, New Jersey. Larry’s career included organization and strategic management consulting where he worked with CEOs and other senior executives of insurance companies, banks, and real estate firms. Larry was associated with MassMutual Financial Group for over 20 years, concluding his tenure as executive vice president, leading four core businesses at MassMutual. In this position, Larry also served on the Acquisition Boards of Oppenheimer Mutual Funds and David L. Babson, an institutional money management firm located in Boston. Larry is a native of downstate Illinois and a graduate of Western Illinois University. He completed the Executive Program at Dartmouth College. He is a past member of LIMRA’s Board of Directors, a past life member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a member of the Cincinnati Presidents Organization, and a former member of the American College Board of Trustees.
