Professional Summary
Dr. Daewoo Han’s research activities are focused on devices and materials for bio/chem/medical/sensor applications. Currently and for the past several years that includes: (a) electrospun nanofiber membranes and their applications and (b) point-of-care diagnostic devices. Multi-functional nanofibers have emerged as a versatile and powerful nanomaterial, offering unprecedented potential in a variety of applications because of their unique benefits, such as extremely high surface area, highly porous network, and excellent flexibility for material selection, various fiber morphologies and structural configurations. ‘Synergism’ has been the cornerstone of the research strategy, not only in performing diverse research activities, but also in fostering collaborations with experts in complementary fields.
Future research plan will be outlined but not limited to as following: (1) expanding the current biomedical research by incorporating engineering methodologies, such as microfluidics and electroniccontrols; (2) stepping into emerging fields, such as nanofiber-based 3-D transistors mimicking a gate-all-around transistor and artificial intelligence (AI). AI-integrated point-ofcare and sensor systems are gaining prominence due to the great potential enabling smarter, rapid, adaptive, and more elective solutions for real-time decision-making in healthcare and other critical sectors.
