Danielle Martin Charles serves as an Assistant Professor at the UC College of Nursing. Dr. Martin Charles joined the UC CON team in 2019 as an Adjunct Faculty member. She taught Continuum of Mental Health Care Clinical and Fundamentals of Patient Centered Care Lab in the Undergraduate programsduring that time. In 2024, Dr. Martin Charles began teaching as full-time faculty, Assistant Professor, for the Undergraduate and Accelerated programs. She also teaches The Professional Role in Nursing Education in the Nurse Educator program. Her research interests include mental health and nursing education. Dr. Martin Charles has 11 years of clinical experience, Medical/Surgical, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and Oncology Nursing.

Research and Practice Interests
Dr. Martin Charles' research focuses on enhancing psychiatric mental health education within nursing, with an emphasis on preparing students for the complex demands of mental health care. She is particularly interested in incorporating evidence-based strategies such as mindfulness practices, digital health tools, and high-fidelity simulation to improve student engagement, clinical competence, and emotional resilience.
By integrating innovative teaching methods into nursing curricula, her goal is to reduce stigma, strengthen therapeutic communication skills, and support the development of a well-prepared, compassionate mental health nursing workforce.
