Obatala Mawusi

Obatala Mawusi is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker with over a decade of experience as a writer, cinematographer and director, driven by his fascination with stories that motivate human action. The HBO documentary We are the Dream earned him an Emmy, and he currently has work streaming on Amazon Prime. He has collaborated with brands and nonprofits to produce commercials, branded content and original series.

A father of two daughters, Oya and Ori, Obatala recently relocated from Oakland to Cincinnati and is excited to join UC's College-Conservatory of Music team as Production Manager in CCM's Media Production Division. When not crafting visual stories, you might find him perfecting thick-cut, double-fried French fries at his weekend pop-up, Town Frites, at Findlay Market—because apparently, even his hobbies involve production value.
