Professional Summary

Personal Statement
In the summer of 2016, I worked as the First Aid Director at a camp serving over 300 people per week. In this role, I worked alongside a nurse to dispense medications and triage campers presenting with a wide range of complaints. This position was my first working exposure to any form of healthcare, and I quickly realized the core responsibility of healthcare providers is to educate patients. My favorite moments came from time spent teaching the campers, such as showing a camper with a poison ivy rash pictures of poisonous plants in the region or allowing a camper with swimmer’s ear to inspect my ear canal with an otoscope while we discussed his infection. Such moments brought dual satisfaction by helping someone feel better while also teaching them, and this drew me toward medicine.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
As a medical student at UC, I appreciated the culture within the residency program here. It is clear the program encourages continued growth, camaraderie, and teamwork amongst its residents. As I imagined the physician I hope to become, I felt confident UC would help me accomplish my goals. Additionally, I love the city of Cincinnati and am excited to continue to call it home.
