Joe Miller – 2025–26 Season Highlights

Renowned choral conductor Joe Miller enters the 2025–26 season with a slate of ambitious and high-profile performances that showcase his artistry and leadership on both national and local stages.

Continuing his role as Director of the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, Miller will collaborate once again with conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and The Philadelphia Orchestra in a series of major works. In December 2025, he leads the Symphonic Choir in performances of Handel’s Messiah at the Kimmel Center’s Marian Anderson Hall, a beloved holiday tradition that highlights the ensemble’s expressive power and technical precision.

In March 2026, Miller prepares the chorus for Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection”, under Nézet-Séguin’s baton. These performances—scheduled for March 6–8 at the Kimmel Center and culminating in a special appearance at Carnegie Hall on March 10—feature acclaimed soloists Ying Fang and Joyce DiDonato. Miller’s choral leadership in this epic work promises to be a highlight of the season.

He also returns to the Kimmel Center stage later in the season to prepare the Symphonic Choir for performances of Mozart’s Requiem, conducted by the distinguished Jane Glover. This program adds to Miller’s reputation for drawing out profound musical expression in the great sacred masterworks of the choral-orchestral tradition.

In a major new chapter, Miller will launch his inaugural season as Music Director of the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati. A former member of the group during his graduate studies, he returns now as artistic leader, bringing with him a bold and imaginative vision for the ensemble’s future. His first season with VAE will feature innovative programming and a renewed commitment to excellence, community engagement, and creative collaborations.

Taken together, these performances mark a defining season for Joe Miller—one that underscores his stature as a leading voice in American choral music and a dynamic force on both regional and national stages.
