Personal Statement
In Israel, I trained as an emergency first responder and assisted on an ambulance. Their ambulance system is used for emergencies as well as general transportation to health care appointments. I have traveled to Panama to assist on a medical mission trip. It was an eye-opening and humbling experience, and I learned how much I took for granted including clean drinking water and access to basic medication and healthcare services. Since I was in school at the time, I had a limited role, and I spent most of the experience teaching about the importance of dental hygiene and preventative health care that didn’t require inaccessible supplies. While the health care systems in these cities where I worked were vastly different, they both embraced kindness and empathy with the same goal of providing competent, compassionate care. In the words of Francis Peabody, “For the secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient.”
Why I Chose Cincinnati
Cincinnati has been the best home for me for the last 8 years. When it came to choosing a residency, UC seemed like a perfect fit thanks to the relationships I’ve made.
