Kathleen Oliphant, DNP, RN, CNL, NEA-BC is an Assistant Professor of Nursing and Director of the Systems Leadership MSN and DNP Programs. Her experience includes clinical and leadership positions in both the hospital and ambulatory settings focusing on improving cost efficiency, patient experience, safety, and quality outcomes. Interest areas include nurse well-being and continuum of care with recent partnership involving leaders in seven states and Ireland. Teaching experience includes graduate nursing courses in systems leadership, strategic management, clinical nurse leader immersion, and fundamentals of population health.

2024: Participated on research team with Drs. Paul Norrod and Laura Ridge to investigate two interventions, self-scheduling and daily huddles, to improve nurse well-being using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research as a guide for conducting focus groups with nurses.
2025-present: Clinician on research team with Dr. Tony Faiola to administer cognitive testing and instruct patients on the use of the Virtual Reality intervention for these two studies:
1. Measuring the Feasibility, Acceptability, and Efficacy of an AI-Powered In-Home Virtual Reality Cognitive Therapy Intervention for Early Alzheimer’s Patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment
2. Measuring the Feasibility and Effect of a Virtual Reality Cognitive Training Intervention for Brain Cancer Survivors

These funds were used to provide materials for a compassion response program at 50 hospitals and to purchase books on overcoming secondary stress for over 1,000 nurse leaders. $12,500 Completed Type:Grant
Investigators:Oliphant, Kathleen -2021 Mount St. Joseph University Thrailkill Funding Award supported DNP evidence based practice project to purchase blue tooth blood pressure (BP) monitors that connected to the Epic electronic health record. This actively engaged patients with remote BP monitoring which has been shown to enhance communication between primary care providers and patients to improve strategies for managing hypertension. $1,000 Completed
