The Universe is currently in an ionized state, but was in a neutral state previously. Our understanding of the mechanisms that drove the Universe's phase change is limited because we cannot directly observe ionizing radiation escaping during that time, as the neutral intergalactic medium (IGM) absorbed it. My primary research focus is on improving understanding of the mechanisms of ionization at nebular scales using emission line diagnostics and spatial resolution from strongly lensed C IV and Lyman-alpha emitters.
