Professional Summary
Dr. Jo-Anne Prendeville is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Her primary ares of interest inlcude various aspects of language and language development, emergent literacy, curricular based intervention and authentic assessment. She has received funding for numerous US Department of Education Personnel Preparation grants. Most recently she was funded for a project titled: Enhancing the Cultural Competence of SLPs through Preparation in Authentic Assessment (2007-2011). She teaches courses in Speech and Language Development, Syntax, Language Disorders in Early Childhood and Language Disorders in Later Childhood.

Current-
Parents' Reading Experiences with Preschoolers (PREP): Project PREP is a 6-week book reading program that seeks to understand how parents and children reading books together influences children's ability to retell stories. Approximately 30 parents and their 4-year-old children are taking part in this study.
