Personal Statement:
I have taught electrical engineering and electrical engineering technology courses full-time & part-time since August 1982.  I have also worked several years in the electric energy and control industry on electrical engineering projects.  Prior to teaching full-time at the higher education institutions, I was senior electrical engineer and project manager in charge of the Electrical and Control Division at the Watkins Engineering Firm. Currently, I am a Professor and Graduate Director for the Sustainable Energy, and Undergraduate director for BSEET in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering (ECE), at the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS).  I advise Electrical Engineering graduate students at ECE who are conducting research on projects related to electric machines, power electronics, and industrial automation.
 
Teaching Experience:
9/1/01–present    Electrical Engineering Professor at the College of Engineering & applied Science (CEAS), University of Cincinnati.
6/2/06–8/31/15    Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) Department Head. I was reappointed on 6/2/2009 to be department head for five (5) more years (until 8/31/2015).
9/1/12-8/31/22    Electronic Engineering Technology (ELTN) Undergraduate Program Director. Electric Energy & SmartGrid (EESG), Electronic Technology (ELTN), Computer Technology (CTECH) and Robotic & Automation (ROBA) minors’ advisor.

Honors and Awards

Research Interest Areas:  Design, construction and analysis of lightweight Carbon Nano tube (CNT-type) electric machines. Digital Control of Electro Mechanical and Solid State Power Electronic Devices. Analysis and use of Electric Drives in Robotics and Electric Vehicle Systems.  Industrial use of Micro Controllers, Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Use of Sensors in Digital and Analog Electric Circuits and Analog-Digital Mixed Signal Electronic Circuits.  Design and Programming Industrial Network, Automated Manufacturing, Electric Energy, and Process Control Systems. Honors and Professional Activities:  I was nominated for the 2021-2022 A.B. Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching Award. Again, I received an e-mail from Dr. D.J. Lowrie on 1/12/22 that I wasn’t selected for the award.  I was nominated for the 2020-2021 A.B. Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching Award. I received an e-mail from Dr. D.J. Lowrie on 1/8/21 that even though I didn’t get the award this year, they applaud me for my accomplishments. I hope I will be nominated for this award again.  Dean John Weidner and Professor Marc Cahay (EECS department head) nominated me for the 2019-2020 UC Distinguished Teaching Professor Award. On 1/27/2020 I received an e-mail from Provost office that even though I didn’t get the award this year, they applaud me for my accomplishments. I hope I will be nominated for this award again.  UC College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), 2019 Neil Wandmacher Excellent Teaching Award  Registered Professional Engineer (P.E. #15735) since 1988.  Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Outstanding Professor for the Academic Year 99-2000.  Member of the Eta Kappa Nu, Electrical Engineering Honor Society.  Member of the Tau Beta Pi, Engineering Honor Society.  Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) Society.
