Professional Summary
Avery Schollenberger is a second year PhD student on the Bronze Age Archaeology track with an interest in Mainland Greece Prehistory. He received his BA from Indiana University in Classical Studies (Greek/Latin) and History. His Classics Honors Thesis titled, "Reconstructing the Mycenaean Warrior Ethos: Exploring the Displays of Power of the Mycenean Elite through Chariot Iconography," examined Mycenean chariot imagery from the Shaft Grave period down to 12th century exported material to Cyprus. He has dug at the site of Morgantina in Sicily as well as Aghia Marina Pyrghos in Boeotia. His research interests focus mostly on the development of Late Bronze Age societies, understanding urban and environmental development facilitated by Mycenaean palatial centers.
