Personal Statement
My background in biomedical engineering and research cultivated an analytical mindset focused on solving problems using innovative solutions; however, it was not until my internal medicine rotations that my path truly crystallized. I distinctly remember one experience when I cared for a patient newly diagnosed with congestive heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. As guideline-directed medical therapy was initiated, I discussed with an attending how the introduction of angiotensin receptorneprilysin inhibitors reshaped heart failure management and how newer interventions, like the Impella heart pump, are improving the survival rate for patients once considered beyond the reach of therapy. It is this ability to integrate cutting-edge research with bedside care that excites me most about internal medicine.

I chose Cincinnati because I was struck by the supportive culture as well as the programs emphasis on mentorship and collaboration. The breadth of clinical opportunities and diverse patient population, paired with the support to embrace challenges and continuously grow, convinced me that Cincinnati would provide an ideal environment to develop as a compassionate physician. This was the program I felt I could thrive in academically and professionally while making the community better through exceptional patient care.
