Professional Summary
Personal Statement
Throughout my life I have seized opportunities to serve my community. I mentored elementary school children who were struggling in class, developing my abilities to show empathy while providing guidance as a mentor. More recently, I have grown my teamwork abilities by working with a team to deliver healthy food directly to hundreds of families in need through my local food bank. My time spent on service projects with the Boy Scouts helped me develop my ability to follow a team leader, culminating in me becoming that leader as I completed my own Eagle Scout project to benefit my community. I feel that internal medicine allows me to continue this lifelong commitment to serving others through advocating for my patients; when families have concerns, I can make the phone call to provide reassurance. When a patient is being seen by multiple specialists, I can help condense a potentially confusing treatment plan into a process the patient can follow. I intend for my time caring for patients to follow the motto we had in Boy Scouts when breaking camp: "always leave things better than you found them."
Why I Chose CincinnatiĀ
It was clear that the residents knew each other well and had a good sense of togetherness. They seemed like a very welcoming group that I knew I would want to be a part of. Additionally, being from Indiana I was excited to live in a mid-sized city that was close to home but still a brand new experience.
