Meredith Smith is a doctoral student in the Educational Studies program at the University of Cincinnati. She has obtained a certificate in Peace Education from the University of Cincinnati’s Urban Center for Social Justice, Peace Education, and Research (UCSJPER). Meredith’s program development and training in the areas of diversity and peace education have been oriented toward community development and teacher preparation. She has worked with the Cincinnati Public Schools, the Juvenile Detention Center, and the University of Cincinnati. In Covington, Kentucky she sits on the Board of the Bowles Center for Diversity Outreach, and volunteers with the Northern Kentucky branch of the NAACP. Her research reaches from violence prevention in the urban core to analysis of programs such as Minorities in Mathematics, Science and Engineering and IV-CHARIS an organization that aims to reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS in underserved communities.
