Professional Summary

Alisa Strauss is an archaeologist and cultural anthropologist. Her archaeological research focus is on ancient North America, in particular, ceramic morphology and use of the Susquehannock, an Iroquoian people, and prehistoric social organizations of the Archaic peoples as evidenced by variation in projectile point morphology. Her cultural research focus has been on contemporary cultures, including her research on Jews in Acadiana and coal miners in Eckley, Pennsylvania. She received her PhD from the Pennsylvania State University in 2000 and joined the Department of Anthropology at the University of Cincinnati after a brief period of working as an archaeologist for a cultural resource management firm.
