Mark Sulzer is an assistant professor in Secondary Education and Literacy & Second Language Studies. Dr. Sulzer earned his PhD in 2015 from the University of Iowa in Language, Literacy, and Culture. Previous to joining the faculty at the University of Cincinnati, he worked as a high school English language arts teacher and drum line instructor. He currently teaches courses related to teaching methods in the English language arts, disciplinary literacy, and critical literacies. His primary research interests include critical youth studies, reader response theory, dialogic pedagogy, young adult literature, classroom talk, and education policy. Dr. Sulzer has published his work in English Teaching: Practice & Critique, English Journal, and the Literacy Research Association Yearbook.
