Professional Summary
Stephanie Talbot earned a Communication M.A. at UC and shortly after began teaching Effective Public Speaking. Since then she has taught Business Communication, Communication & Culture, and Communication in Problem-Solving Groups. Stephanie is committed to an inclusive academic environment, believing strongly in the UC mission statement goal of preparing students for a global society. She currently serves on the Diversity Committee for the Department of Communication.
Her research spans a broad base, from K-12 online learning research with the Jewish Education Center in CECH to the McMicken First Generation Research Team. Her dissertation focuses on Study Abroad and Service-Learning for First Generation College Students. Her current research uses Action Research to look at her own teaching practice. Additionally she uses Arts-Based research methods to study youth identity and media. Stephanie’s future plans include incorporating qualitative and quantitative methods to explore topics such as race, gender and minority populations.
