Professional Summary
Personal Statement
One aspect of internal medicine that appeals to me is the ability to establish a strong therapeutic alliance with patients and teach them about their medical conditions in many organ systems. Thanks to my own patient experience as an individual with an immune disorder, I have the empathy and patience required to translate medical jargon into clear terms for my patients so they can make educated decisions regarding their care.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose the University of Cincinnati because the internal medicine program is designed to provide residents with the tools they need to grow intellectually while also learning how to provide patient-centered care. It became clear to me on my interview day that the faculty of the program were also dedicated to this growth mindset as they were constantly looking for ways to improve the experiences of each resident at UC. I also valued the opportunity to partake in the medical educational pathway at UC since I hope to one day become a clinician-educator. Perhaps most importantly, every resident I interacted with on my interview day seemed genuinely happy to be at UC, which I believe speaks to the excellent culture of this program.
