Scott Vennemeyer , PHD

Scott Vennemeyer, PhD, is an Assistant Professor — Educator in the Department of Medical Education at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

His research focuses on how informatics tools and methods can improve the way medical trainees are taught and assessed. This includes work on visual analytics dashboards for competency assessment, AI-driven evaluation of clinical reasoning, and multi-institutional collaboration on emerging assessment approaches. 

He teaches across the biomedical informatics and medical sciences curricula, covering topics from database systems to medical ethics, with many additional courses in development. His courses emphasize practical skill-building with real healthcare data and applications.

He also holds several program development roles, including directing the Undergraduate Certificate in Medical Informatics and a high school summer institute track and co-chairing the First-Year Experience Committee. Across these efforts, his goal is to connect informatics, data science, and AI literacy to the everyday work of medical education.
