Professional Summary

Julia N. Villarreal (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the University of Cincinnati’s School Psychology Program. Dr. Villarreal earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 2023 and completed her psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship via the Mid-Michigan Psychology Internship Consortium from 2022-2024. She is a Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst at the Doctoral level. Dr. Villarreal uses a social justice lens in her research to support minoritized students’ mental well-being and behavioral outcomes. Her goal is to empower minoritized students with agency, choice, and meaningful involvement in their interventions. Dr. Villarreal’s second research line includes topics related to professional issues in school psychology. Dr. Villarreal teaches: Applied Behavior Analysis I and II, School-based Behavioral Counseling and Mental Health Interventions, and Working with Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in Schools.
