Professional Summary
Orion Whitcher is a first-year PhD candidate in classical archaeology. His primary area of research is Greek funerary archaeology, with interests spanning from Aegean bronze age archaeology to Hellenistic sculpture. Orion's undergraduate honors senior thesis was entitled "Gestures of Liminality: The Significance of the Dexiosis in Classical Athenian Funerary Art," which was published in the 2024 edition of the Harvard Undergraduate Journal of Classics. Orion graduated with honors from his undergraduate program at Lewis & Clark College in 2024 with a double major in Art History and Classics. He has participated in an excavation on a Roman Villa in Vacone, Italy, and has attended two extended programs in Greece through Harvard University and College Year in Athens. Orion played competitive rugby throughout his undergraduate career, and won Lewis & Clark College's 2023 concerto competion.
