Professional Summary
Personal Statement
Internal medicine aligns with who I am. I have observed that a patient’s illness overlaps with their other illnesses which overlap with genetics, lifestyle, and access to care. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of a patient is the key to care. In medical school, each clerkship brought exciting knowledge and lessons that excited the young learner in me. It was like my textbooks were coming alive, and I saw pathology right in front of my eyes. I love talking to patients, hearing their story, hearing their symptoms, and discovering a reason why they are ill. Even when a patient presents with an established diagnosis, I am eager to learn of their journey. I am equally comfortable with the drama of critical care as well as the continuity of outpatient care. I relish the opportunity to change the direction and tempo of a patient’s disease; much of that through in-depth patient education. I work hard in everything I do. I especially work hard when I love something, and I love medicine. I look forward to the opportunity to care for the whole patient.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
I was initially drawn to the University of Cincinnati due to its reputation as a strong internal medicine program with patient-centered care, stellar residents with notable camaraderie, innovative research, and supportive mentors, faculty, and culture. During my fourth-year sub-internships and interview trail, I sought a residency program that offered a diversity of patient care, skilled and knowledgeable faculty, and a chance to grow professionally. During my UC interview, I felt a sense of comfort that this program fulfilled everything I was looking for and more. I am confident that I will grow on professional, clinical, educational, and personal levels at UC, my top choice for residency!
